You cannot take good photos standing in the middle of forty picture snapping tourists. Am not anti-social, but I didn't travel all that way to meet... people like me.... tourists. Best to step out of your comfort zone, wander a bit and see what the locals are doing.

Thought the same, they must have gotten quite a laugh that a serious military movie was named for a chocolate company.CCjonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16417345400369951250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8208027712659472082.post-79553727627869906622015-11-18T06:45:02.963-06:002015-11-18T06:45:02.963-06:00Quite true, CCJon, about not waiting to travel for...Quite true, CCJon, about not waiting to travel for when one "retires"...for some, the day may never come....time to do it now.

I like the third picture the best but really, this is a great set of pictures of life in Moscow....the people, the personal touches, the commentary and observations, not the tourist sights though including Red Square was of course important!

Cool factoid about "Red October", the Russians must have been amused when the movie was shown there.

"putin enough efforts" into your puns are we? redlegsrideshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10927757855921321097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8208027712659472082.post-65088408730830799802015-11-17T22:49:50.504-06:002015-11-17T22:49:50.504-06:00Very well stated...Very well stated...RichardMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04773834892715980735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8208027712659472082.post-28422710454153702752015-11-17T21:22:23.352-06:002015-11-17T21:22:23.352-06:00Richard, we got serious about traveling when a clo...Richard, we got serious about traveling when a close family member had a heart attack and could no longer travel. Didn't matter if he had the money or not after that. Another good friend with whom we talked endlessly about traveling after retirement, was building a nest egg to travel on but suffered a stroke and died at the age of 59. He never got to enjoy his retirement. We decided while we have the health, go for it. Enjoy life while you can. Some day our health won't allow us to travel, but by then we'll have great memories and stories of adventure with which to bore the others in the rest home.CCjonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16417345400369951250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8208027712659472082.post-2723724196690875442015-11-17T20:04:39.202-06:002015-11-17T20:04:39.202-06:00Thanks for posting photos of this trip. Interesting capitalistic approach of the monastery people. I am actually surprised, but then again, living under such an oppressive government for so long it seems fitting to practice capitalism when given the opportunity to.
I cannot believe you passed on the fancy desserts?!?!?! Did you at least try the Red October? And yes, babushka...I mean, Tita, does look rested and beautiful!!
Thank you for inspiring and reminding us all that no matter where you are from (small town in OH or small town in COL), traveling should be done. Oh, and the walkway is definitely a creative beauty!!
10LEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14710121159144557704noreply@blogger.com
